FAX CONSOLE VIEWER ERROR MESSAGE

When I want to view a fax that I sent using Fax Console, I get the following message:  "The fax document cannot be displayed because your operating system does not have a default viewer for fax documents (.tif files)."  This just started.  What is wrong and how can I fix it?

Your file association was lost somehow.

Microsoft suggests setting the Tiff file association with mspaint, but you can choose "windows picture and fax viewer" instead.

Open a folder, any folder.
On the toolbar click Tools>Folder Options
Click File Types tab
Find and highlight Tif on the list of file types
In box below ("Details for Tif Extension" ), it should say "Opens with Windows Picutre and Fax Viewer. If not, click Change button and select Windows Picutre and Fax Viewer from the list. Click OK back to desktop; reboot.

I was so excited to try your resolution - unfortunately it did not work, even though I rebooted and now "windows viewer" is used to open tif files. any other suggestions?:
