Graphics Driver

I received a pop up error on my task bar stating the display driver had stopped working but recovered.  A few days later I got a blue screen and computer shut down.  Now it is stuck on the lowest resolution with only 4 bit color.  Won't let me change it.  All my icons on the desktop are huge and also the web pages are so large I have to keep scrolling side to side to see everything and the background is grainy with lines and many colors.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS graphics card.  In Device Manager it says windows has shut it down because it isn't working properly.  I went to the NVIDIA website and updated the driver, but it didn't help.

Any suggestions?  Do I need a new graphics card?

Thanks.

Sounds like it took a dump, is it under warranty?

    One other possibility:

If the graphics card has its own power connection from the PSU, it could be a faulty PSU.
