Please clarify how you are trying to open the file. Is the file on a website that you are trying to open within a web browser or is it a file you have downloaded to your hard drive that you are trying to open by double clicking om its icon? Can you open other PDF files besides this one? Did you uninstall any previous versions of Acrobat Reader before downloading and installing the newest version? What is the full and exact text of the error message you get when you try to open this PDF file?
I had a similar problem opening a pdf using Adobe Acrobat 6.0. I solved it by downloading & saving the file to my desktop and then opening it from there. I still can not open many pdfs directly from the web.
To answer the question you asked: how to change the program with which pdf file is opened
right click on the file, click 'open with' (not open), click 'choose program', Adobe should be listed as you have it installed. Higlight it, and to make the change permanent, check the box 'always use the selected program to open this kind of file'

I also had a problem with Adobe 6.0 and uninstalled it and installed 5.0 and everything worked again as normal. Just a little info.

Hi,
Adobe Acrobat 6 Reader has a high demand on processor power, speed etc.
It can be easier to just use the previous version. I have had to do this on other computers previously.
Version 505 worked, fine whereas version 6 gave me numerous problems printing and displaying PDF files.

I have not had any problems with version 6.02.
