Help and Support

I can't open Help and Support from the Start menu on my Dimension 4500.  I have tried reinstalling the Drivers and Utilities, but it still won't open.  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks!

To reinstall Help and Support: Go to
C:\Windows\inf\pchealth.inf. Right click and choose
install. Have your CD handy.

Note: The folder is hidden by default. Go to Start/Run
and type in: control folders. View: Show hidden files and
folders and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types

If it doesn't help go to Start/Run and type in: helpctr -
regserver

WillyTee...thanks for the help.  I must be doing something wrong...when I go to C:\Windows\inf\pchealth.inf, I get the pchealth screen, but when I right click nothing happens!  I went to control folders and unchecked the Hide extensions block.  Also, nothing happens when I went to helpctr - regserver.  Any ideas?

Hi again...I tried the helpctr - regserver also and that does nothing. Thanks for the interest though.

WillyTee...I tied this and it reinstalled msconfig.exe. No problems there but I still do not have any response when I select the "Help and Support" button on the Start menu.

Though it's been awhile, it's a simple fix.  After one of the Windows Updates (I'm not sure which one) there is a misplaced file.  Merely delete or rename C:\Windows\System32\helpctr.exe and Help and Support will then work

Assuming that you have Windows XP, if the above don't fix help and support, see my last post at
