HELP--error message at start up

I just bought a new 8400.  I put in my sbcyahoo dsl disc to get started so I could hook up and when the computer was ready to restart it did BUT did not go back to windows xp BUT a black screen that shows "Starting Windows Millenium Emergency Boot...."
Then "type the name of the command interpreter (e.g., C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.com)"
Then it shows an A type prompt (reminds of my old dos days)  HELP!
I used this disk with my old computer that has ME....but the disk is less than a year old.  SBC said it should be o.k. to use with the new systems....hmmm..
Now what?  pleae help....

You cannot use that disk on your new computer because the hard disk on your new computer is partitioned and formatted under the NTFS file system.  The Windows ME boot disk, boots to DOS and DOS cannot recognize, read, or write to a drive using the NTFS file system.

O.k.....I kind of get that BUT now what?  How do I get it back to where it was?  Do I need to put one of the disks that came pre loaded on  the system back on the computer?

Yes I did, Steve, thanks...then turned off the computer and when I turned it back on that same message was there.  GOSH!  I hope I didn't really mess it up. Turned off the computer b4 I went to bed (guess I thought it should sleep on the mistake also) then when turned on again this morning, same thing.  Any suggestions?  I HATE calling tech support....they replaced a power supply fan that was bad a day or so ago and that took 3 days and so much phone time....

Did you take the floppy disk out of the disk drive?

Did you attempt to install anything from this disk?  It is a floppy disk isn't it?  Are there any CDs in any of the CD-ROM drives?  Can you boot to Windows Safe Mode?  I really need to better understand what you did before I can begin to try to help.

Yes...I did attempt to install from the sbc disk.  I was logged on to computer, put the cd in the drive to install sbc yahoo dsl as I was instructed.....everthing went along smoothly...then a message said I need to restart the computer....so I clicked o.k.

THAT's when the problem started.....when it restarted it showed the blank screen with the message shown in my first posting (windows me....command....the "A" prompt...etc.). I hit esc; typed in the "command.com" and just kept getting the A prompt back....that's when I turned it off, then back on and still same stuff.

You should not get an a:> prompt if there is no floppy disk in the in the floppy disk drive.  Are you sure you have removed the floppy?  Can you boot into Safe Mode?
