Hi dfashionmaker,

When you partitioned the Hard Drive, did you leave the Recovery Partition intact or deleted it?

So assume not. You need a Windows 8 Reinstallation DVD unfortunately these are hard to procure unless you reside within the United States. For those who reside outside the United States you can see the Customer poll on the Dell Community including customers comments and my Idea Suggestion on IdeaStorm. Add your vote to either if you want media requests to be made easier globally or/and for downloadable media to be available for clean installation. You can try phoning Dell Technical Support within your region to see if they will help you procure one.

See Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean install of Windows 8 it will instruct you on clean installation of Windows 8. Follow the optional Step 7a as it will format the machine entirely. I recommend doing this as you had a cracked version installed and it could leave some infections behind.
