I2C HID Device Code 10

Dell G5 15 5587

Touchpad is not working, and the I2C HID Device is giving the below error.

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The device returned an invalid HID descriptor.

The touchpad works in the BIOS fine. I have tried uninstalling driver and restarting my laptop

I found solution and it works for me. C/P

Disable and Re-enable the Device in Device Manager
  1. Open Device Manager and locate the I2C HID Device under Human Interface Devices.
  2. Right-click on the device and select Disable. Wait a few moments, then right-click again and select Enable.
  3. This can refresh the device and potentially resolve driver conflicts.

I have the same issue on a Dell Latitude 3140.

I already tried disabling/enabling the driver, removing the device and restarting, and trying to update a newer/older version of the driver.

Solution is simple. In Bios change how mouse and touchpad should work connected together. That fixed problem for me after fighting with all other solutions - code 10 - chat gpt. Vostro 3400
