Has there been any changes to your system recently, like any software or updates?

Look for any software (in add/remove programs) that may have installed (even w/o you knowing) that would run with I.E.

 

For instance, any toolbars or plugins.

 

Have you upgraded to IE7 yet?

 

If not, try upgrading to it and maybe that will solve any issues.

 

 

not sure if this will fix anything but :

 

You can run Lavasoft AdAware (free download), Spybot Search and Destroy, HijackThis (have to read up on what to do with HiJackThis.. you can mess up something if you're not careful)

 

or anything of that sort and have it scan your drive. With Spybot, my only issue is, I don't usually use the Windows Security Center stuff, so I have it disabled sometimes. When I run Spybot SnD, it shows "windows security center antivirus" or firewall or 'auto updates" as being disabled and lists it as a problem. If you leave them 'checked' , it will enable the security center stuff for you.. and I hate that so I always make sure it's unchecked in the spybot list of problems before I hit FIX  ISSUES.

 

 

I also use TuneUP utilities 2007. I got it on torrent to try it and figured it'd just be another lame utility. I love it. It runs great, so I bought it. It does alot of cool tweaks to the system for you. Fixes issues with the registry as well.

 

I also defrag with Diskeeper from Executive Software. Best one on the market. Back in the 90's I was a Norton guy, then I saw what a resource hog Norton is, like AOL, and I quit using it.

 

Another good spyware finder is Webroot SpySweeper. Unsure about any trials on that tho.
