I have tried many times to install NAV 2004 update ....never seem to finish..always a different problem.  I have followed ALL diferent directions...uninstall/reinstall. on and on and on.  Latest: After installation, was not able to open program.  Error message:  unable to open intergrater....whatever that means.

Shall i scrap the whole thing, ask for a refund and re-install NAV 2003.>>>

Unsure of what you tried to do. If you tried to install a new version of Norton over an older one already on your computer, it simply won't work. If you did, you'll need to get RNAV from the Symantec site to completely remove the previous version and then go with the install. Go to the Symantec site here and look for your particular situation:

Scroll the whole page to find the description of what you are trying to do.

Please name some anti virus software, other than Norton, that is vey user friendly to an amateur Windows 98SE user.....Dimension L800r...PentIII 800MHz

I give up on trying to install/ re-install NAV 2004..I am not able to even re-install NAV 2003 which was on my computer before I tried to download the update.  I followed all directions for Symantec, Dell, etc.  After installation,  windows will not reboot...only to safe mode.  I've tried and re-tried and re-tried.

    Thanks for ANY help...

If you use the Add/Remove program to remove Norton AV and then use RNAV and then use the manual uninstall instructions, you should be good to go with an install of Norton AV (any version). I know it's a pain but it's the only way to go if you want a good install of their product. Print out the manual uninstall instructions so that you don't have to be connected to complete it. Also remove Live update and Live Reg using the Add/Remove program (this might be your problem). If you give up and want another AV program, this one is free but I don't know how effective it is:

    Chuket,

I downloaded AVG and completed setup.  However, in re-booting the computer a virus was detected:

    C:\May17-~1.EXE Trojan horse Downloader.Apropr.D

They recommended restarting the computer via diskette or CD-Rom.  Is there anyway to get rid of the virus without "cleaning house"? I know I would have to save all of my files, etc, etc, etc   which I know is a long, drawn out process ( even though I would not know how to do it).

Could this have been my problem all along?  NAV never got this far...

    Please..ANY SUGGESTION?????

Get Spybot search & destroy and see if that gets rid of it:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

Also you can go to Trend Micro 'housecall' and have it scan your system. Have it check your C: drive and be sure to check 'auto clean' before the scan. When you open the housecall site it will appear to 'hang'. Be patient as it can take quite a long time to load the ref. list and do the scan. You will be asked if it is OK to run their program on your machine. OK it.
