Internet Explorer- Default Browser?
I used to have a dial-up connection, and used AOL to connect to the internet. Then I got a cable modem, and could connect without using AOL. As far as I can remember, the transition went smoothly. However, my cable company recently changed, so my browser settings got a little mixed up. I believe our main browser changed from Netscape to Internet Explorer. The problem is, I think some programs are still set to use Netscape (or whatever our old browser was). Sometimes when I click on a link that will utilize the internet (for example, clicking on a link from AIM or on a link from PowerPoint Presentation to get to online clip art), the entire computer will freeze. It's as if the computer is trying to access the internet through a browser that no longer exists. I am hoping to find out how to set Internet Explorer as the default browser for all programs, especially AIM and PowerPoint. I believe this will solve the problem. Thanks in advance for the help!

volleygirl16,
Open internet explorer and from the toolbar select tools-internet options-programs. Put a check in the box " Internet explorer should check whether it is the default browser"-apply-o.k.

Someone will probably suggest an easier way but I would uninstall Netscape, re-boot, then re-install Netscape and tell it you want to make IT (Netscape) your default browser. I suggest you download Netscape 7.1 at the page below. Click on 'Windows' at the bottom of page. (I think you may need Netscape to be your default browser to run AIM but I'm not sure of that having never used it.)
