I'm having probs with my McAfee not being compatible with Windows Vista since installing it on Friday night.
I've logged onto
www.mcafee.com and then my account - which does exist . But I can't seem to find any kinda upgrade thing for Vista. As I've got a 36 month deal with McAfee when I bought the Dell E520 last November, I presume I should be eligible for the upgrade.
Is there anything I should be looking for ? (be gentle as I'm not computer literate...lol)
I can't seem to find anywhere to go on the McAfee website either that enables me to e:mail, or type a question for someone to help me with the above. Is this normal standard, or are there any Human's working at McAfee ?
I'm running Mcafee Internet Security Suite 2007 version on Win Vista home premium. I'm having absolutely no problems with it. I don't think there are any Vista specific updates that need to be performed by us. The auto update feature should download and install all the updates required.
I got an email about this back in november. I upgraded to the Vista compatible of McAfee when I had XP. I copyed it to a disc and then downloaded it to Vista. Go into McAfee security center and go to the updates tab it should find the new version there and download it. Here is an article on it

I got an email about this back in november. I upgraded to the Vista compatible of McAfee when I had XP I just got a pop up in the bottom left of my screen as though it was just scan. I copyed it to a disc and then downloaded it to Vista. Here is an article on it

Thanks inspiron_wvhpe, but when I log into that mcafee vista link it takes me to a part where I can click on upgrade....I presume this is what I click on.
It then asks me to tell them what product I am trying to upgrade. What do I click on here ?
My McAfee that I had with the PC is Antivirus McAfee 7.0 - 3 yrs Subscription.
It seems that if I just "pick" one off the selection, it takes me somewhere where it's just trying to sell me more McAfee products. Am I in the wrong place ? :-/
I click on the dowload button, then Run, and Run again......it then comes up with The Download Manager is unable to access the Internet. Connect to the Internet, and the click "Retry" to continue.
Yup seems to me like it is. Close all you applications connect to the internet, If you are allready then disconnect then reconnect open the McAfee downloader again and try again. If all fails again restart computer don't know if it makes a difference but you can try it.
Just tried that - no go. Computers huh, who needs 'em !
I don't suppose it has anything to do with me having attempted to install McAfee after Vista, as I keep getting pop-ups on the desktop (upon loading up) about McAfee not being compatible. I can't even un-install the McAfee due to the error messages. I'm starting to lose all hope in this system :smileysad:
When you get these pop-ups does it have a link and text saying your current McAfee Internet Security is out of date. Download the latest one here, You should get a pop up to upgrade if not contact support.
It basically keeps telling me that McAfee is not compatible with the system - no "out of date" messages.
I think I might have made a mess off things by sticking the McAfee re-installation CD back in after I downloaded Vista. I shoulda known not to do it really, as I did have to un-install the McAfee to get the Vista up and running in the first place (D'oh!).
And now, the stoopid thing is that I can't get the McAfee OFF the computer as it keeps saying it's not compatible (even when un-installing)
I sent McAfee an e:mail last night to see if I can get any response from them. Maybe they'll be able to send me an "up-to-date" version for me to download ?
Thanks again for all your help anyway - much appreciated :smileywink:
