Microsoft account not responding

Hi guys,

Unusual thing happened to my Optiplex 7070 sff. I am regularly installing all Windows updates. A few days ago I have installed the latest Windows update (cumulative updated for February). Today when I turned on my PC, I was able to log in to my account, but I can't start any programme - when I try nothing happens. I can only close programmes that start automatically, but can't even reboot my PC nor open task manager. I have to hold power button to shut it off. I have tried restoring to the earlier point, everything worked after that and when I rebooted PC again the same issue. This is not happening on my Lenovo laptop. I have tried repairing Windows nothing. However, I have enabled Admin account, and with it, everything works fine. Only my account doesn't work.

Tried three antiviruses, they found nothing. Also, dell support applications doesn't work (on either account). When I try to run to check for updates I get error, same when I scan for hardware changes.

Any suggestions what to do here?

1.  Do you have 3 antiviruses on there at the same time?  Whether or not, uninstall all 3.  Make sure Windows Defender is on.  What does it do now?

2.  If you have just one 3rd part antivirus installed, turn off Windows Defender. Does it work?  If not, go back to pgh. 1.

Hi, no I was installing/uninstalling them one by one. I have Malwarebytes and windows defender together. Actually, I've been having them for 1,5 years by now, and never had any issues whatsoever. I tried uninstalling MB and running with Defender only, but still the same. Tried the other way around as you suggested, but the issue still persisted.

You also said you enabled admin account and it works, but yours doesn't.  Since you have an admin account and you should probably be the admin anyway, are there any restrictions place on non-admin accounts?  If I remember right, Windows has a person set what is allowed to be accessed for non-admin accounts.

So another idea - delete the non-admin account and just use the admin one.  Up to to you if you still want to recreate non-admin account.

The only time I've had things freeze and not open is when I was sent malware back in 2013, but that froze everything.

I'd ask if it was after a Windows update, but you went back to an earlier restore point.

Just an idea:  Upon startup, go into the F12 Boot & Diagnostics menu.  Choose "Diagnostics" and run it.  This to make sure PC is healthy.

If it is, the only workaround I know is to reload the OS.  Others may chime in also, but as far as I know, that's the route I would take.

Sounds like a corrupt Windows Account to me.

And since there is no good reason for that, I would try to find the problem (maybe with ePSA Diagnostics, outside of Windows). If you are lucking, motherboard is good and it's just the main drive (especially if HDD instead of SSD).

Then clean-install Windows (to check hardware and insure your Windows is not compromised).

Get a good UPS-Battery (with AVR, like APC).
