Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library - can't launch Internet Explorer

Question

Any help would be appreciated!! Here goes........ A few days ago, when attempting to open Internet Explorer, after clicking on the icon in my Start menu, I got the message above (in the dialog box title bar) with the following detail below:   Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe   This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.   The only option is to click 'OK', and then that's it - no Internet Explorer. I use it nearly everyday, and don't recall installing any new software, etc. recently.   HELP!!!!!

I had the exact same problem.   I went into Add/Remove and removed the Google Toolbar and it solved the problem for me.

Yep, I came here looking for a solution to this problem, removed Google toolbar and now it's all good with IE.

Of course, there's always those sleek Google friendly alternatives such as Firefox and Opera. ; )

hi:

The google toolbar is installed in your internet browser. To find out if you have it, and to uninstall it to solve your runtime error, click on Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. You will be presented with a list of installed programs. If Google is installed , it will be listed there. Click on it and you will be offered the option to uninstall it.

Another solution to this is :   Go to Tools:Internet Options:Advanced and uncheck 'ENABLE THIRD PARTY BROWSER EXTENSIONS'   Then restart your computer.

This happened to me and just removing Google Toolbar wa not enough. I unchecked the 'all third party browser extensions' and that fixed the issue.   Oddly, it only afected one of the two suers on the machine. I could always start IE using the first user but it was fall over when the second logged in and vice versa. sammysawdust:   If disabling all third party browser extensions worked, it is likely that only one of them is the culprit. From what you describe, it's a good bet that McAfee's anti-phishing is the one. If you use McAfee, try disabling this option from within McAfee, then re-enable all your third party extensions.
