Missing user account

Yesterday, I turned on my computer only to find that one of the four user accounts was missing. It doesn't show up in the User Accounts control panel. But, when I press Ctrl+Alt+Del at the welcome screen and enter the user name, I can get in. When I log in to that account and go to the User Accounts control panel, it says that it is a guest account, when it should say limited. I can't change this through Local Users and Groups as I have XP Home. I also want to keep the Welcome page enabled. Also, if I want to change an account's picture, it says "Automation server cannot create object." Any thoughts?

Milton027,

Restart your computer in Safe Mode.  Login as Administrator.  You should be able to make the necessary changes to the user account; i.e., Welcome Screen logon and type of Account.

That doesn't work either. The account still doesn't show up in User Accounts.

Milton027,
If you login as one of the other users with administrative rights, can you see the hidden account?  If not, right click on My Computer.  Left click on Properties.  Click on Advanced Tab. Click on Settings under User Profiles.  Do you see the hidden user's profile listed?  If so, this link will explain how to copy a corrupt user profile to a new profile:  http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811151 .
