I'm not sure this answers your question, but if you are looking to have the "My Documents" folder on your desktop, you can right click on the desktop in a blank area and choose properties.  Then click on the desktop tab.  Click the Customize Desktop button.

There you can put a check next to the "My Documents" and the icon will show up on your desktop.

Hello all,

Concerning my XP Home SP1 computer:

On my desktop I have a shortcut to the My Documents folder.  I don't see the original My Documents Folder. Is this original folder supposed to be on the desktop or some where else?

I searched for it and found it in two locations but Windows won't allow me to move it to the desktop from one of the locations?  The other location it's at I don't know if I should move it or not.

My Documents does not belong on the desktop, just a shortcut to it.  There is no reason to move it...

Bay Wolf,

That's what I was looking for thanks. Ok now if I should delete the My Documents folder from the desktop does that mean it's history from Windows, can it be rebuilt.

Thanks all..............

You are very welcome.

It's a SHORTCUT.  It points towards where the My Documents folder actually is, nothing more.
