Need help with Plus! installation

Hi all,

I need some help trying to install Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP.  The first time I installed it (about a year ago) it installed flawlessly.  Since then, I had to have my drive reformatted.  I want to reinstall Plus!.  When attempting to, everthing installs fine until the point where the software goes to register itself.  I get the following Error Message:

Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Microsoft Plus!\PLUSWIZ.dll failed to register.  HResult - 2147221164.  Contact your support personnel.

and then

Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Microsoft Plus!\PersonalDJreg.dll failed to register.  HResult - 2147221164.  Contact your support personnel.

I then have the choice to either Abort, Retry, or Ignore.  If I Abort, installation stops completely.  If I Retry, I keep getting the same error message.  If I choose Ignore, installation will complete, but then I cannot start Plus! as I get another message stating that some files are either missing or corrupted and to reinstall the program.  When I do reinstall, I get the error messages again.

Can anyone out there guide me as to how I can get this program installed properly?  I appreciate your responses

Do a System Restore to a date PRIOR to first trying to install Plus.  That should clear it out of your system and allow a "fresh start" with the installation.

Sometimes if an installation fails, subsequent attempts to install it over top of the failed installation will also not work.  A clean install is usually called for in those cases.

There may be some info on the Microsoft knowledge base about your problems, too.  I haven't looked there, but that's a good place to start, since it's a Microsoft application, not an OEM product provided by Dell.  Since it's been previously installed and registered, you may have to contact Microsoft about the reinstallation and re-registration.
