I have both the latest Nero Ultra and Roxio. I like and use Nero for audio CD burning as I like the way it works better. However, I also use some features in Nero such as the Label Creator and several others.
I have both installed as I do some PC support and between the two, that is what most of my customers have.
THANKS FOR THE REPLY. I HAVE A STRIPPED DOWN OF NERO THAT CAME WITH MY SONY DOUBLE LAYER BURNER. SHOULD I UNINSTALL THAT SOFTWARE BEFORE INSTALLING NERO ULTRA. I HAVE HEARD THAT I SHOULD NOT INSTALL INCD. IS THAT CORRECT AND HOW DO YOU PREVENT IT FROM BEING INSTALLED. IF SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH INCD.
First, InCD is Nero's packet writing program. It's equivalent to Roxio's Direct CD. It's OK to install it if you do not have another packet writing program installed. However, if you have another packet writing program installed you can only have one as they will conflict.
You can uninstall the version of Nero before you install the new one. Uninstall it, then restart Windows, then do the install of the new version. Again, if you don't have a packet writing program installed it's OK to install InCD. Just let it do a full install.
Apparently a problem exists between In CD4 and the Windows SP2 cache manager according to a web search. Do you know if this problem has been resolved. Thanks again.
That could be a conflict between the Nero packet writing (or any packet writing program) and the built in Windows CD writing. I've seen several conflicts and if you turn off the Windows CD burning that usually takes care of the conflicts. I don't use the Windows CD burning and have it turned off, to avoid potential problems.
What is the best way to uninstall the version of Nero that came with the Sony burner. ADD/REMOVE Programs? Or Nero Cleal Tool. I go to RUN-REGEDIT and under Nero Burning ROM there is Clean Tool from which I get three choices. DEFAULT-PRODUCT-MINIMUM VERS. That's not what I expected. Then what??
The registry is not the correct (or best) place to uninstall programs. You need to go to the Control Panel and the Remove Software - that is the proper place to orderly uninstall programs.
One miscue in the registry and you are looking at reinstalling Windows XP.
