.Net 3.5 Installation problems

​has anyone encountered problems installing the .net 3.5 framework. I'm trying to install it as part of the c# express 2008 installation. .net 3.5 is one of the many components required for this software. The installation gets as far as installing the .net framework and then encounters an error.​

​I've tried installing the .net framework seperately but the same error occurs. Microsoft wont offer any support on this as i bought by laptop from dell. nice of them!!!!!!​
