You are using the same browser. There is only one Internet Explorer on your computer. All the problems that are plaguing your wife's use of IE are due to things in her Documents and Settings account or in her portion of HKEY_CURRENT_USER in the registry.
To clean up her side of things open IE in her account and go to Tools|Internet Options|General tab. Click "Delete files" to get rid of Temporary Internet Files. Then make sure that spyware is not causing the problem. Download Ad-aware from
here and Spybot from
here. Check online for updates to their databases then run them and delete all the spyware they identify. Make sure you run them while logged on in her account.
If this does not work, you can delete her account (including all the files and folders associated with it) and create a new account.
