Pre-installed Software

Hi,

I am about to purchase an Inspiron laptop but I have the following question...Does Dell provide the CD(s) when we purchase pre-installed S/W? I want to buy the Abobe Element and Premiere software, but I would need the CDs do that I can install it also on my desktop.

Thanks

When you buy optional software at the time of computer purchase then yes, the cd's are normally included in the package. But legally speaking, keep in mind most software is licensed for one computer installation only.  Not sure about Adobe Elements license, but you may want to investigate that if there could be activation issues on a second computer.

    Thanks for the reply.

I was just talking to Dell and they informed me that CDs of the Operating System and of the MS Office packages are provided, but not the CDs of other pre-installed software.

You should have received disks for any non-Dell applications you purchased with the computer, regardless of whether the system shipped with OS reinstallation CDs (if you have a computer from the time when we did not ship those disks automatically).  If it is an application that does not have its own installation disk, then most likely it will be on the  Dell Applications CD ("for reinstalling factory installed applications").  The Applications CD has trial versions of software (e.g., McAfee or Trend Micro anti-virus apps) as well as free software such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I know you are looking an inspiron but just a word of advice if you decide to buy a Studio 17.  Adobe Premiere Elements is not compatible with this computer even though Dell is selling it as an option to be preinstalled.  And they will not give you a refund on the software,  they say it is "not possible".

I hope I can install Adobe Elements and Premiere on an Inspiron 1525. Can somebody confirm this please?
