printer port

i'm trying to re-install a printer but keep getting an error message. it says the specified port is unknown. what do i do now?

What Model PC, What Operating System, what type of printer port? USB or Parallel?

More than "it doesn't work" is needed for someone to assist you.

You may want to do a System Restore, back to a point PRIOR to first attempting to install the printer.

Then, run the printer's install program, but DO NOT connect the printer to the PC until the install program tells you. If you connect it first Windows will either install wrong drivers or the install will fail.

See if that gets you going.

BTW, what model printer is this?
