Not sure if this is the right forum, but seems likely to be software.  Have a Latitude D620 Notebook, running XP Pro, with automatic MS updates.

I have a problem where it fequently moves to a point where any attempt to select text can trigger all text being selected and often almost impossible to deselect - switches off when mouse is clicked, but immediately reselects.  Rebooting usually fixes the problem, but only for a short time - sometimes only seconds.  Problem occurred a few months back for a couple of weeks, then seemed to go away, and has now recurred.  Problem exists whether using the inbuilt keyboard and mouse, or using an external standard USB keyboard and mouse.

I thought the problem was only in MS Word (2003), but it seems to carry over to other programs.

Have made sure sticky keys are off.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
