Problems with Internet Explorer and Vista....PLEASE HELP!!!
ok...so i installed vista from xp last week and i've been having problems all around. most are gone but there are two that are killing me....freezing at start up (where the Microsoft Corporation Bar comes up) but the worse right now is Internet Explorer closing almost all the time now.
i have IE 7 and it was working fine the last week until 2 days ago when it really got ugly. everytime i close a window that popped up by me clicking on a link will make IE close...it would say "Restarting Explorer" (or something like that) and close all my IE windows.
now it's got to the point where i'm trying to install a vista update manually (because of a Error Code 643)
but while trying to install the 2nd update (
.NET Framework 1.1), a window pops up and IE freezes and restarts again...it doesnt allow me to download anything...
I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
one thing that always came about after the IE restart would be Data Execution Prevention window would pop up and i think i removed Windows Explorer from that list on the DEP list to have the option turned off or on...
sorry if that was confusing but it's cofusing to me too!
and before i start another thread (j/k) if i can't find a solution here, who should i contact for help? dell (since they have me under their XPS warranty thing) or Microsoft? if microsoft...whats the best phone number to call them at?

- How about Firefox? I like Firefox better than IE7 but try to uninstall IE7 from control panel- programs and features, and reinstall IE7 and see what happens. Do you have IE7 on a disk or will download from microsoft? before you uninstall IE7, make sure to load firefox first..here's the link:

Also, you CANNOT uninstall and reinstall IE7. IE7 is a part of Vista.First step is to do a complete system scan for malware (virus, spyware, trojans, etc.). Do this and report back.
