Problems with Windows installer

Question

I had a severe infection that I think is cured now. I need to remove the old Java software. 1- Windos installer has been updated. 2- When trying to remove programs I get the following message 'The Windows Installer Service could not be access. This can occur if you are running Windows in a Safe mode, or if Windows installer is not correctly installed' Can you help?   Thanks

Check if its disabled.

Start>run>services.msc

Scroll down to "windows installer",highlight>right click>select properties>In the start up type drop down menu make sure its not disabled,if it is set it for manual.

Also when "windows installer is highlighted check in the left pane and click "start the service"

Windows installer seams to work fine now in manual.   On control panel. I can not see any hardware devices and my wirless is not working either. Do I need to start a new string

To see the Hardware Devices . . Right click on My Computer and select Manage . . . Device Manager.

When you look at the wireless adaptor in Device Manager . . what does it say?

That would indicate that the drivers are loaded . . Try this: Click opn Start . . Run . . type cmd to open a command prompt.

Type or cut and paste each of these and press Enter

netsh winsock reset catalog

netsh int ip reset reset.log

That should reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults and reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults.

Then test your connection
