Processor speed?

I have a Dell Optiplex GX110 win98 machine purchase in 7/2000. I'm trying to figure out my processor speed.  When I right click my computer / System Information / System says GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 8 665 ... what does that mean??? Do I have a Penteium III machine or not....

When I look on Dell's site under my profile original configuration for what my pc came with it says Processor, 80526, 667, 256, 133, Fiber Channel, B0 doesn't help me either.

I'm having slow system resources and am trying to figure out why.  The thought was maybe I have to large a program loaded for the processor.

Go to system properties in Control Panel, General tab and see the info. Shortcut key to System Properties: Windows key + Pause/break key.

Download and run Belarc advisor from here:

It should give you the info you need.

System resources are consummed by running processes. If your system performed OK in the past and only recently started slowing down, something else is happening.

Look at msconfig and see what all is starting at boot up. Look in the task manager, ctrl-alt-delete- pushed together just once, to see what is running.

Have you run Spybot search and destroy and/or Adaware for spyware?
How about an anti virus program with up to date definitions?

Have you added new programs recently?

Thanks for the info. I have run antivirus, adware, spyware.  I have checked Task list and have turned off some processes and it seems to be doing better. Think I'll give it run for a while and see how it goes.

Thanks much for the input!
