Reinstalling weird problem.

I have a dell Inspiron 1150.  I reformated, and reinstalled windows XP pro.  All went well until i had to "log in".  There's one account, and it's administrator, i've tried every password i can think of and all i get is "The specific domain could not be located, or could not load"

Lets see now when do you  see the 'Administrator' option. Is it in the normal mode of login or are you trying to log into the Safe Mode.

Also during the installation did you set a Admictrator password.

It's in both safe mode and normal mode.  I never set a password, and i went back and looked at it again.  It doesn't seem it's so much the password as it is that it can't find the specific user name, as if the name and files for it don't exist.  I reformatted then re-installed so i assumed it'd be like starting over with a new computer, anyway, hope that helps.

When you see the Welcome Screen on noramal boot is 'Administrator' listed over there.

During the setup of the XP Pro install there is a prompt/screen to set the administrator password. You should provide a password at that time.

It seems that your computer is trying to login to a domain. However, it seems that you don't have a domain. Perhaps you clicked on domain networking (as opposed to workgroup) while in setup somewhere. Anyways, you won't be able to login and fix it. If you're connected to a network, try pulling the plug and logging on. Otherwise, it's restore/reinstall time again.

Good Luck
