The Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 that was preinstalled on Dells was the "Basic" Version.  If you go to the Roxio web site  www.roxio.com you must download the updates for the "Basic" version.

There are several updates that are required if you have Windows XP, SP1 installed as the updates fix problems that developed with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 after SP1 was issued.

I looked at the downloads for a Dimension 8200 (which came with Roxio V5 Basic) and notice there is a download available for that.  However, back when Dell was suppying the Roxio CD burning software they were also supplying the install CD's so you should have the Install CD for Roxio.

Was Roxio installed by Dell if yes go to the Dell website and look for the driver section for your PC, the update may be there. What model Dell is it?

First what model PC do you have? (The Dell Model Number and Operating System should always be on an initial problem post - it can make a difference for someone to give you specific assistance).  You are not looking for the actual CD drive, you are looking for Rxoio software.  However, was this preinstalled on the PC or did you get the Roxio somewhere else, such as with an add on CD burner?  The "LE" version suggests it's not the Dell supplied version and not either the "Basic" or "Platinum" versions that have downloads on the Roxio site. 

I downloaded the updates for ROXIO Creator basic but they would not install because the update wizard could not find a qualified ROXIO product. Is the Dell supplied version something special that the updater does not recognize? I tried the Dell web site and could find no reference to my CD writer (HL-DT-ST CDRW/DVD GCC 4482).

AHH! You have a new system with the new version of Roxio, not the older version.  There is no update that I'm aware of for that version, unless you want to buy the full Retail version of Roxio.

Looking at the quoted error message, are you sure it is Roxio causing the driver conflict?
