run time error

I was typing a word document and this error came up...

Run time error

programc:\program ~1\ MI 1933 ~1\1\ office10\winword.EXI-

abnormal program termination

Word shut down

So I checked out repair

it seemed to be doing something, them came back with a blank word screen.

I started typing  in my document again and the same error message came up with these differences.

this time it said in addition to the run time error and program c stuff... it also said "microsoft visual c"

I tried contactin microsoft and they said I needed to contact Dell and Dell says my coverage is outdated. Has anybody had this problem? Can you tell me how you resolved it? I can't make a new word document now. I've shut down my computer and logged back in but it still says the same thing. I will run norton now and defrag and clean-up things and see if that helps.

I would appreciate it if anybody can tell me what to do. Thanks, Pupcake6

Yes, just insert the office CD, it should autorun and prompt you for either a repair or removal, select repair.

Thankyou for replying...

No I didn't use cd. I am illiterate when it comes to the computer.  So I am at a disadvantage. Most of the time I have no idea what they are asking me. Should I re-insert the original cd and try repair from that?

Thanks again, pupcake6
