In other forum I found McAfee was making the problem, if you have it you can try uninstall and reinstall then.

You can verify also by trying on SafeMode, see if from there the computer goes off normally.

Did you tried SafeMode?

GioAguilar,
IT WORKED!

OK I did start in safemode, and then procceded to restart my system
It did restart without hanging up in the logging off mode.

So far I have restarted and shut down around 5 times and it seem to be working fine

Many Many Thanks to you for the help

I just have one question what did starting in safe mode do exactly to resolve my problem
I currently work in the IT field and would like to know why this worked and what it did to the bios to correct the issue

Thanks

Sorry for the delay...
Let me tell you what SafeMode does, Basically it run Windows loading only really basic components and drivers for your computer.... What it may be happening, it is that a process o service that run as soon as Windows starts is making the problem.... Go to the START - type MSCONFIG on the search bar and press ENTER
On the System Configuration Utillity window go to the startup tab and disable everything is not your video card, antivirus software, netowork manager, Go to the services TAB (click on the check to "hide all Microsoft Services" is not likely Micrososft services are making the problems) then uncheck the as on the startup, make sure your antivirus is checked as well any thing related to video, sound wireless/network.

As an example remove things like
Google, MSN, iTunes, Yahoo, Adobe....

Same here we purchased only a week apart, except I cannot log on, and the support people where ever they are in the world do not understand english, have you gotten your problem fixed??

Sorry for my late reply,

I am currently working on this issue I have stopped more than a few services, and so far I’m able to bounce/shutdown without a logging off freeze to my system.

Fingers crossed)

I want to do this a few more time before I go on to my next step

Next Step: identifying the service that may be causing this error by starting each service individually and then bouncing my system multiple times.
(Please bare with me)

Not sure if this information is relevant might help but( a few days ago I had Dell's Tech support log into my sys remotely and I did have to download a program for them to connect and I remember that soon after that I started having this issue)not sure if that could have caused this or not... probably not just thought I would put that out there.

I will post my finding as soon as I find them loll

You mean the Dellconnect they use, I do not think that may caused a problem, but if you have a service for that, check it... It should be something about citrix...

yes it's called gotoassist and i did uncheck it and yes it is a citrix application I will let you know what happens (have to go to school now) Thanks

Hello I’m Back.

Sorry for the late response to my last post

I found the Issue on my system and have corrected the problem

This took some time to do because I had to disable all of Services in the System Configuration (except the Microsoft services I selected hide all Microsoft services then I disabled what was left)

After this I Shutdown or restarted my system about 5-6 time to make sure that it wouldn’t hang up on logging off

I then proceeded to selectively enable services and repeat the 5-6 shutdown or restarts

I did this every time I enabled a new service

Finally I found the Service that was causing my logging off freeze

It is a Dell service called "Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service"
I tested this multiple time and everytime i turned this service on my system would lock up when i went to restart or shutdown and everytime i turned it off my system had no problems

NOW can someone tell me why this "Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service" is causing this to happen and what it exactly does on my system

Also i would like to give special thanks to GioAguilar for helping me with this issue

Thank you GioAguilar

You're very welcome "dude"

That is the service that manage your wireless card, I would recommend to you, to update the driver it includes the utility) for your wireless card. Check here look for the device you have.

Yep. I did the exact same thing. I have not yet figured out a way to get around this problem. If I disable that service or set it to start up on anything other than "Automatic", it will prevents my wireless card from working.

Also, it seems that simply loading that software on start up (not necessarily running the service or disabling it) will cause the problem. So, it isn't something that you can automatically disable the service before shutting down.

Also, if you wait long enough (on my M1730 it's about 10 minutes) it will eventually complete the shutdown process. So, I wonder if there is a configuration setting that will allow it to shutdown quicker.

Any help is appreciated. This is a VERY annoying problem.

Hmmm.....lots of steps involved, Mac....you start by running msconfig at the command prompt. Then you disable everything (there is a radio button option for diagnostic startup) to begin with and then systematically enable stuff until you see the desired effect.
