You could also try the below FREE programs with different Data bases.
You can get FREE program called Spybot from; http://spybot.eon.net.au/ If you install with Blind Icons you also get extra Immunize Options "Lock IE Home Page" "Lock Hosts file" "Lock use of Internet Options from IE" > Tools > Internet Options
Use Update 1st before Immunize & Scan for problems & delete files shown in Red or Green & auto ticked. Also has other Tools , like list or Add/Remove of Auto Startup Programs & lists Hosts file
If you have already install Spybot & Immunize doesn't show extra option change the Shortcut link "Target" to "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe" ----------------------- You can also get FREE Programs called Ad-ware from; http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Update program 1st before Scan. Delete links for "Data Miner"
As both programs have a different Data base use both.
Also, you could clear your prefetch (folder); after time that does get clogged. There's also a registry setting you could change (ie from 3 to 2) so as to not clog up that folder.

RAM is cheap and helps a lot.
