Some windows updates slow PC down? Which one?

Hi All, My PC was running pretty good until I did the windows update thing. Then I noticed a slow down in speed/performance. I've heard that one of the patches from MS is the cause. Did anyone hear about this? If so I like to know which "hot fix" it is so I can uninstall it. Supposedly it's a patch that has something to do with buffer underruns.Unfortunately a few of the patches refers to buffers. I can't find any posts on the NET referring to this. Just thought I'd ask here in the event someone knows specifically which one it is. I want to avoid uninstalling all of them since some are security patches. I've done everything you can think of to get the speed back (defrag, stop unused processes/services, no spyware, no viruses, etc) but to no avail. Thanks.

    jimspartan,

    You were aiming at this thread I believe.

    My HTML started with

    href="http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_other&message.id=155161">

    Yours started with

    target=_new board
    message?board.id='dim_other&message.id=155161&highlight=slow+hotfix#M155161"'
    supportforums forums.us.dell.com href?http:>

    I can't figure out where the URL for yours came from.

    Yeah, i had that thread a few times, and tried editing the message about 5-6 times to make it work.  Must have gotten messed up in the editing, and I finally just gave up.  Sooner or later, I'll have to learn to write HTML...

    Thank you gentlemen. I was searching this forum but did'nt come up with that post. I must have blown right by it. I guess I have to start wearing my glasses more often now :) Although I'm not a new PC user, I'm not a pro at it either, it never hurts to learn more. I'll read through your links Denny. I am new to this forum. Thanks again.
