Stock Ticker - Windows Live XP
Under Windows 98SE I could set up a stock market ticker on my desktop which used to update every few minutes. It enabled me to see how much money I had lost on a regular basis (ha ha!). The stock ticker was one of a few options offered by Microsoft for free.
Does anybody know if I can do the same thing under XP? I can't seem to find anything similar.
Many thanks, Phil:smileysad:

I'm in a similar situation...... I'm trying to find a national debt ticker that I can place somewhere on the desktop.
Something tells me I might need a huge widescreen monitor to fit the entire number though. :smileyvery-happy:

Hi MPO, many thanks - I've now got a suitable stock ticker up and running, the Paul Brill ticker. Regarding colours, as you can't seem to change the green/red up/down figures, you need to configure the colours fairly carefully to make it easy to read. Here's how I did it:
1) Make the background black
2) Make the stock symbol and current price yellow.
3) Set the ticker speed to slow in the drop down list, and then set the slider scale to full slow as well.
4) If you're after, say, FTSE quotations, you need to suffix them with '.L' for London, otherwise you may qet the US equivalent if it uses the same code.
The end result is quite readable and not jerky.
My outstanding questions are:
1) An '*' appears next to symbols which apparently indicates news. Does anbody know if this is a free service, or is it something that needs to be paid for?
2) If I wanted to display, say, the Japanese or Hong Kong indices as well as Dow JOnes, what symbol would I use?
Thanks again everybody and I hope this info is helpful to my fellow 'stock market losers!':mansad:
