Synchronizing files on two laptops

I now do all my work on a D800 laptop.  I'm purchasing a D400 to travel with and take to the office while I leave my D800 home.  I'd like to be able to synchronize several files and folders so that I have the same date in each computer at the end of the day or at least sync them several times a week.  For the most part this would be MS word (My Documents) Excel files and my Outlook calendar and contacts.  Is there a relatively simple way of doing this on a regular basis...say via a USB cable and how would it be done?

Thanks

Easy! There are two parts to this solution: hardware and software.

For hardware get yourself a short Ethernet crossover cable and install it in the Ethernet port on each of your two PCs. Should cost less than $ 10. Try www.newegg.com.

For the software, first run the networking wizard on each PC to set up the connection. Then use Windows XP Help and Support to learn all about Briefcase and use it for synchroniztion.
