I have been having a few problems with my Dell 410 which is running Windows XP Media Edition so I ran system file checker to see if it found any issues. It turned up a few bad files and prompted me for the XP CD. After it repaired a few files it prompted me for CD2. Since I only have one Dell CD for the operating system I have no idea which CD to use. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
It appears that Dell had a bunch of bad XP Reinstallation CDs, particularly for MCE, that cause sfc to request a second CD. Contact Dell and request a replacement disk.
Thanks for the help. I have requested the backup disks from Dell and will try that first before I attempt changing the registry, which to be honest makes me very nervous.
