but i have the same message on my labtop i changed the memory it is sill shows the same message. i do not know what to do.
When am trying to restart my system, I am getting this error message \system32\hal.dll missing or corrupt. My OS is XP PRO I can not get past the black page that displays this message. I have attempted to reboot with the CD that DELL provided with purchase and it does nothing. The PC is a XPS 400 Deminsion 9150. I see others with the same symptom in this forum. Is there a virus out to cause this?

IF you really want a fast solution for this without any further delay use your OS disc .
If Windows XP do a Second repair option.
If Windows 7/ Vista Do a Repair from Diagnostic tools
