Taskbar problems
I am using Windows XP Professional. Normally my taskbar appears at the bottom of my screen, about half an inch high (its smallest height) across the bottom of my screen, with my Quicklaunch icons on the left side of the taskbar next to the "Start" button. However, for some reason the taskbar became about an inch high with two horizontal rows of icons in it. (I must have done something that I am unaware of to cause the taskbar to go from half an inch high to one inch high.) I then tried to reduce the size of the taskbar back to about half an inch high (the way it originally was), with the double headed arrow icon on the edge of the taskbar, but was unable to do it. To try to fix the problem (get my taskbar back to half an inch high), I removed all of my Quicklaunch icons from the taskbar and put them on my desktop. Then I was then able to again reduce the size of my taskbar to about half an inch high with the double headed arrow icon on the edge of the taskbar. However, when I then right clicked on the taskbar and chose Toolbars>Quick Launch, the taskbar again appeared about one inch high instead of half an inch high. At that point I couldn't reduce the height of my taksbar from one inch back to its original half inch in height. Also, I can't figure out how to put the Quick Launch icons back on the taskbar. If I move them onto the taskbar nothing happens.
1) How do I get the taskbar to be it smallest height (about half an inch) with the Quicklaunch toolbar available? As mentioned above, with the taskbar at its lowest height (about half an inch), if I then right click on the taksbar and choose Toolbars>Quick Launch, the taskbar becomes about one inch high and I cannot reduce its height to half an inch by using the double headed arrow icon on the edge of the taskbar.
2) Once I get the taskbar at its lowest height (about half an inch) on the bottom of my screen and the Quicklaunch toolbar is checked in the Toolbar list, how do I get some of my icons from the desktop (that I previously removed from the Quciklaunch list) back onto the QuickLaunch list on the taskbar?
I hope this is clear.
Thanks.
Richard

As for adding icons to the Quick Launch area, you must drag and drop shortcut icons only and only to the Quick Launch portion of the taskbar.

Thanks for your response. If I adjust the size of the taskbar after it is unlocked, I can reduce the height of it to what I want - about half an inch. The problem is that when I then right click on Toolbars>Quicklaunch to put the Quicklaunch toolbar in the taskbar, my taskbar doubles in height from half an inch to a full inch and I cannot reduce its height to half an inch using the double arrow icon placed on the top edge of the taskbar. The only way I can put icons in the Quicklaunch area of the taskbar is when the taskbar is about an inch high. So, my basic question still is, how can I get the taskbar to remain half an inch and still have a Quicklaunch area in the taskbar for my Quicklaunch icons?
Thanks again.

If this is recent change, you could try a System Restore to lastest date available when you know it was ok. You will have to reinstall any XP updates or other software that was originally installed after the date used for the restore.
