Time Synchronization Problem

When I go to "Date and Time Properties"/Internet Tab from the Windows Clock in system tray, the synchronization status reads:"An error occurred getting the status of the last synchronization. The RPC server is unavailable".

I tried synchronizing with the 3 servers from the drop down menu and I still get the same error message.

Could it be the firewall preventing the clock to synchronize? If so, what is the name of the clock synchronization application so to check the firewall settings?

Thanks.

I have the sync unchecked on mine. I use this instead:

Never an error and it uses the Naval Observatory time and you can set it to sync to update at any interval you wish.

You may have the service turned off that does the internet time update.  Go to RUN and type "services.msc"  then find the service called "Windows Time."  Set it to turn on automatically and see if that solves your problem.

Thanks, you were right, the service was not started, now the time synch works fine.
