Upgrading

I hate to sound too stupid, but can Windows 2000 or Windows XP be installed on a pc that came with Windows 98.  I am suddenly finding that Windows 98 is practically obsolete for all the music jukeboxes and download services such as MusicMatch and iTunes.

Since I use my computer mainly for my business and have all my files, etc. on it, I need to keep it for business purposes.  However, if I can't upgrade to a newer version of windows I may have to get a new computer just for my "fun stuff" such as games and music.  I would hate to do that since I play in between working some days to let off stress, but if I could upgrade I would like to.

Thanks.

jeaniemws,

The Upgrade Advisor that Chik linked you to will let you know what hardware and/or software your present system will not be supported under XP.

There are other considerations, including the amount of RAM you have installed, the size of your hard disk (and how much space is free on it), and the speed of your CPU. If you could provide some specifics on the hardware you are using it would be easier to provide advice on whether an upgrade would be worthwhile.
