USB problems you describe usually occur with older computers (Dimension 8100 was one). You should not have those kinds of problems with the 2400. Have you disconnected older USB devices when connecting your jump drive and printer? Also, connect and configure only one device at a time.
Good site for general info on USB devices is www.usbman.com.
solved the problem.
I took a leap of faith and tried a number of things.
It finally worked for me when I took the manual option to install and looked for the .inf files in the C:\i386 folder - then then PC went through and installed about 5 diffent devices, USB2.0 MFP, mass storege device USB print services THEN finally the install for the EPSON came up.
With rdgrads the jump drive I ended up doing the same installing from C:\i386

Ajbt,
You might want to look at Microsoft's USB troubleshooting recommendations here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310575
