Win 7 Ultimate Windows WPD FileSystem Volume Driver Error Code 10
I have a new Studio 1558 that came with Win7 x64 home but for work purposes I had to move to Win 7 x64 Ultimate. This was a fresh load not just an upgrade. When I finished installing all the drivers, everything works EXCEPT my SD card reader. I get the following error:
Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 10.
I have uninstalled and re-installed drivers, and checked to make certain I have the latest drivers from Dell.
When I plug an SD or MMC card in the slot, the deivce shows up as the F: drive (faded out) under Devices with Removable Storage in Windows Explorer. I cannot open it or do anything with the drive as it keeps telling me to insert a disk. The SD cards I am trying are read without an issue on my older Inspiron 6000 with an external card reader so I know there are files on them.
Any ideas?

Yes. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it but this made no difference.

Dear Havenhawlk. Did not yet solved even past 1yr more? I've got exactly same error but XPS L502X. Win7 Home Prem K to Win7 x64 Ultimate K. At first no problem to read mircro SDHC plugged with microSD-to-SD adapter and microSD-to-USB adapter. After couple of times during 2-3 days, suddenly happended WPD FileSystem Volume Driver error code 10. Generic-SD/MMC USB Device in Disk Drive of Device Manager shows correct volume name and size at its volume tab. Setting its volume name equal to the volume name of the disk shown in Disk Management also gives nothing effective. Uninstall/reinstall of the driver done so many times. Could you let me share how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
