windows 7 error recovery

When the computer is switched on, the dell loading screen (with F2 and F12 options), appears then the windows loading screen ‘starting windows’ then the dell screen appears again (loading) (with F2 and F12 options) after which appears black screen with:

Launch startup repair

Start windows normally (after dell and windows oloading screen, takes me back to the same page)

 

When I click on launch startup repair:

A load bar appears, searching for problems….

 

Another Startup Repair window appears saying:

Sending more information can hbelp Microsoft create solutions.

There are then 2 options to click on:

Send information about this problem (recommended)

Don’t Send

There is also an option to ‘View problem details’. When I click on this,

If I click on ‘Send information about this problem’

A window appears saying Startup repair cannot find solutions to the problem.

That window disappears and the window appears saying Windows cannot repair this computer automatically.

 

If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart your computer. If you continue to see this message, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

 

Click finish to exit and shut down your computer.

 

There is also an option for me to ‘view diagnostic and repair details’ and ‘view advaced options for system recovery and support.’ When I click the second option, after inputting keyboard method, and username and password, I am able to view the System Recovery options.

I have tried the system restore on this window and it does not work. The last restore point available is 25th April 12:23 and description windows Update and type: Critical update. As I press finish for this system restore point, it initializes and the window shows, it is restoring files, finisalizing file restore, finished. But the a window appears saying it dot complete successfully.

I have also tried going into safe mode by pressing f8 when the dell loading screen appears, and last known good configuration, also start windows normally, all of which load back onto the same windows error recovery screen.

Can anoyone help me with this as it has been like this for over a week.

the last time it was on, as I was shutting it down, the windows updates screen came'please do not switch off your computer, loading update 1 of 25...' when it finished it switched off by itself.
