Hi,

I have a DELL Vostro 3560 with Vallidity Fingerprint sensor.

Under Win8 64Bit, I haven't had any problems.

After installimg Win8.1 64Bit, I was able to install the driver, but it didn't work (only sometimes and only for Win-logon, not for the applications).

After a lot of EMails with DELL support, they agreed, that the driver doesn't work, I should wait for a driver in the future.

Hello, I have a similar issue - since 2 weeks ago I had a 8.1 Pro on a Vostro 3560 but later I've had to reinstall the OS. Since when I reinstalled the OS, the driver is not working anymore and the driver installation reflects the same error as from the first post. It was working before the re-installation and it was working fine - now it's not working anymore and I don't have any feedback about how to get out from this... Hoping to have news from Dell Support very soon. Thanks, Marco.

Installed on vostro v131 windows 8.1 x64.

At the beginning, I couldnt setup the fingerprint logon with automatic drivers, I dont know why.  Tried driver for win 8, but ir gave me the error message. Then installed Dell driver for win7 using compability install option. Did not work . I rolled back driver to the previous version . It was synaptics driver which was automatically installed by windows 8.1.

Dell supported drivers does not work very well, especially for windows 8 (8.1). 

Luckily, windows 8.1 installed most of the drivers. The only one i had to install manually was accelerometer . Win7 x64 version worked on win8.1 as far as i remember
