Running win XP home I can get to the Microsoft site, but when I click on the update link all I get is a blank page. Even going through tools on IE or from start menu. I have tried just about everything I know of to do. Any help will be apprecated. Thank You.
There actually is a microsoft article about this problem.
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;EN-US;Q193701. The first thing i think you should try though is go to start > run and type (minus the quotes) "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and hit ok and there should be a message about it succeeding. When that is done go back to start run and type "redsvr32 vbscript.dll" and hit ok as with the last one. Try that first and i would expect that to fix the problem.
I followed your instructions and this did not work, I read the article and even though it said it was for NT 4.0 I followed there instructions as well. But nothing worked. I thank you for your help, and any further assitence on this matter will be greatly appreacated.
Go to this site and download the newest version of Windows Script http://tinyurl.com/7fxd and see if that helps. Also you can try to type in the Run box "sfc /scannow" or reinstall Internet Explorer via Start->Run->"%systemroot%\inf"->Right-click ie.inf->Install. For the last two examples you might be prompted for the Windows XP cd.
