I am on Windows XP and am having a problem where I start up the PC in safe mode or normal and it gets to the windows welcome/ login screen, it sais select user, so I select a username and it starts to log in and then the screen flashes and it comes right back, sais saving settings and then tells me to select a name again. This happens no matter how I boot up the PC.

I tried putting in my dell cd and going through restore and copying userinit.exe from my c:\windows\system32 and replacing the wsaupdater.exe file but it said that the files do not exist. Does anyone know how to solve this problem or had to deal with this problem in the past?
