fcromwell5,

If you are talking about the icon that appears next to the file name you can change that by opening Windows Explorer and going to Tools|Folder Options|File Types tab. Find the file names of interest, click on the Advanced button, then on the dialog that opens select "Change icon" and browse to the new icon. On my system the Word icons are located at C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{91130409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}\wordicon.exe and the Excel icons at C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{91130409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}\xlicons.exe.

I think I got it changed, thanks. I right clicked on the file, went to Properties and then told it to open with Word.

My Word files now show up with the Notpad icon and I have to tell it to open with Word, it does not do it on its own. This only started after I un-installed Wordperfect.
