XP Home Log on needed?

Helping a friend:

XP Home set up with user’s accounts not requiring passwords to log on.

He booted up yesterday and it asked for a password. He tried Enter but it wouldn’t let him on.

Suggestions?

    Jim Hardin,

For XP Home boot to Safe Mode. At the Welcome screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice. At the sign-in window enter Administrator as the user name and leave the password block blank (it is null by default). This should allow logging as system administrator at which time going to Start|Control Panel|User Accounts will allow removing/setting the password for the named adminstrator group account.

Denny: I passed that along, let you know tomorrow.

Either way, I appreciate your input!
