Upgrade cpu XPS 420

Hello everyone I have a question and I hope you can help me, I have a Dell xps 420 with 4gb Ddr2 ram 800mhz and a Q6600 2.4ghz processor and I was thinking about putting a xeon x5450 of 3.0ghz 6/6 (yes I know that this processor is from the LGA 771 socket but it already comes with the conversion to the LGA 775 socket) I have a friend who has one of these on his xps 420 and works normal, what do you think?

You can try but no guarantee it would work.

On 771 to 775 mod website they tested XPS 430 and claimed “All 45nm 3xxx model Xeons” are compatible within fsb/TDP limits and X3363 works.

xps420 was not tested. note 420 chipset is x38, 430 chipset is x48.

they did test Dell precision T3400 (TP412 motherboard) which also has chipset x38, and they claimed “ All 3xxx series Xeons are compatible . The 5xxx series is incompatible.“

420 has TP406 motherboard.
