XPS 8700, boot problems
When my computer was downloading the Windows 10 update a fuse blew in my house as it was finishing the installation. After popping the fuse and restarting my computer, I noticed that no programs would open and other things weren’t working right. So I tried a system restore to the previous day, but before it finished an error message popped up saying the system restore failed, and the computer restarted. After the dell loading screen, it went to a blue screen and said failure to boot disk drive or something along those lines, and restarted, and did so over and over again. I spoke to someone at a computer repair place who said it sounded like I needed a new hard drive, so o got a new one and installed it. Now after the dell loading screen it goes to a black screen that says Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media I’m selected Boot device and press a key. I’ve tried many recommendations I’ve seen other people give with similar situations but I’m having no luck on my own. If anyone can help I’d greatly appreciate it.

One thing you do not mention. After you installed the new hard drive, how did you install Windows. I assume Windows 10 but was it with the Windows media or the restore media from Dell? The screen you are seeing means the system does not find an operating system installed.

Hey thanks for getting to me. Yeah I realized that this morning after talking to the guy I ended up dropping the computer off with. What I also didn’t mention is that when I spoke to the guy who told me that I probably needed a new hard drive, he said after installing the drive the computer should pick up where it left off. So it seems I should have never spoken with this guy to begin with.
