XPS 8950, M.2 NVMe SSD with heatsink ?

Hello, I hope somebody can clarify, if it's possible to install a WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe™ SSD Gaming Storage 2TB with Heatsink on the slot 1 ?

All the videos on the Youtube showed upgrading the bootdrive without heatsink, I wonder if it's necessary? Thanks in advance.

This YouTube video shows an M.2 with heatsink installation in the 8950. There should be plenty of clearance for either M.2 location. And a heatsink on an M.2 SSD is always a good idea especially if the SSD is a performance model.

I installed a Firecuda530 1TB w/heatsink into the NVMe slot by the top X4 PCIe slot. I have a sound card in that X4 slot and if the heat-sink was any thicker it would not fit. So, to answer your question, if you are not using the top PCIe slot, it should fit just fine. If you are using the top PCIe slot, the drive in question can not be thicker than roughly .4 inches.....

Edit: I just measured with some shims and it seems the max thickness can be .425 (.428 was the actual measurement) and that would put the heat-sink ever so slightly touching the sound card I have in the X4 slot. (SoundBlaster Z with the red enclosure thingy)
