Background noise not picking up

My XPS 13 9320 laptop microphone works fine when speaking on Google Meet/MS Team/Zoom platform. But once I play audio through an external sound system not plugged to the laptop, you cannot hear it.

 

My work requires me to present audio (in the background from an external speaker) while speaking, and it seems like noise cancellation is the issue here. But before reaching out to the third-party platforms, I would like to know if there are settings I can double check, or drivers I have to uninstall/reinstall to resolve the issue.

I'm guessing this is the MaxxAudio Pro software's Noise Guard feature. You can turn it off in MaxxAudio Pro's Advanced Options: un-check the box for "Activate Noise Guard".
